Review: 3.5/ 5

Spice 2.8/5

This book relates to me so much, I am the Halloween-obsessed girl in my family. They don’t understand the obsession or me. When Sally and her family had a strain, my heart connected so deeply that I fell in love with the story. Now don’t get me wrong this story is great, there is smut, a good amount. Both Sally and Jack shouldn’t work, a Halloween girly and an ex-army gym rat. They are both open-minded, that is their secret. Well, that and the fact that Sally has been crushing on Jack since high school, and they live next to each other.

I honestly wish I had the guts Sally has, she’s working hard to be happy while not having many people to call hers. Jack comes around and pushes her boundaries and she’s all the happier for it. She had to deal with the high school mean girl coming back into the picture because of Jack.

Jack wins the hearts of the readers when he openly picks Sally (more than once) in front of his family, ex, and the town gossip. Jack doesn’t know what to do with himself now that he’s out of the military, and clings to Sally as she is her most authentic self.

Both have issues at the beginning, but together they push each other’s comforts and overcome the internal tumoral. Without Jack, Sally would just keep going on as the social outcast, and Jack would be living his life for someone else.

They even dress up as Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas!

Tropes:

Opposite attract, Halloween themes, nightmare before Christmas vibe, close corners (neighbors), black sheep of the town, an all-star boy comes home, town weirdo and golden boy fall in love, sex in pumpkin patch, window watching/ voyeurism

Amazon:

Jack Campbell has just returned to his hometown after eight years away in the army, much to his family’s delight, to rent the only place available in town. He quickly appreciates his luck when he meets his new lavender-eyed neighbor.Sally Smithson is the weirdo among the townsfolk, with her black house and hearse to match. Not many in the small New Hampshire town appreciate her sense of style. It doesn't matter either way to her. She has her two best friends, her cats, and her interior design business, which is all she needs . . .Until a rather dashing familiarly handsome man moves in next door—her high school crush, Jack—who finds her too enticing to ignore. She's sweet and loves her baked goods but is different from the rest of the country club attending town. And he adores it. She intrigues, captivates, and arouses him. He can't seem to stay away from her. So, when the opportunity to spend more time with her presents itself, he takes it.When their relationship turns more than friendly, Jack is all in, but Sally is worried they won’t fit together. It takes the support of her friends, old and new, to learn how to move beyond the gossip, to accept the affection of a man she thought she could never have.

Review: 3/5

Spice: 3/5

This is Book #1 in the Gummy Bear Orgy series.

Pink hair, skoolie bus and ferret to match. Love at first kiss? Lala, our pink obsessed girl, is dared to make the day better of a complete sexy stranger, she strolls right up and kisses him. The Him in question is Henry, a real estate mogul, who plans his days by a tight schedule. Lala makes henry Pinky Promise to try her Boba. Actually now that I think about it  there were a few more times a pinky promise is mentioned, like the promise that lead to the first kiss.

Driver seat smutty times, and his curious nature leads the reader to believe he falls first. He starts to open his heart (Ch. 26), and just doesn’t know what to do about it. Neither open up at first, as they fear rejection and loneliness. When you start a relationship with one foot out the door, its easy to expect them to feel the same way. They both noted at the beginning neither wanted long term.

Amazon Blurb:

Henry Bardot is a real estate mogul with a very healthy bank account, and a perfectly ordered life. He’s not interested in relationships. In his mind, they’re a waste of time and energy. As is anything fun. He simply doesn’t have time for such unnecessary things like smiling or laughing. He has work to do. Then she literally crashes into him, kissing him without even a “How do you do?” disrupting his precisely scheduled life. Lala, the pink bulldozer.

Micaela “Lala” Hart is a free spirit with a struggling business and a great love for the color pink. Pink hair, pink clothes, pink Skoolie. It’s a cheerful color that makes her happy. That’s what her life is about. Happiness and fun. Leaving behind the judgmental stares of her small Kentucky hometown, Lala is determined to find her place in the world and have fun while she’s at it. Then she meets Henry Bardot, the anti-pink grumpapotamous. He may very well be the key to expanding her little Boba business into something more.

But can she stop herself from falling for his grumpy charm and mind-blowing… conversational skills?

2024 is a year of writing not reading. With that being said there is only so much writing I can do. So, I have limited myself to 1 book a week. That way i spend my free time with my real challenge of the year. Write TWO books!

Do I believe it can happen? No.

Will I push myself to make it happen, mainly because I don't think it will happen? Hell Yes!

Book #2 has already started, not getting far, and as I write this post I am suffering through writer's block. I had originally planned on finishing writing Book #2 by now and have it sent off to the edit by now. Barely 1/7 of it is written so that isn't happening, which means I won't have it for Dreaming Dirty in Maryland 2024 convention.

That upsets me more than having writer's block.

And what do I do when I suffer a block? (or emotional turmoil?) I read.

On my last attempt at this site, I posted book reviews of the books I have read so far, they didn't save/post. Hence, I decided to rewrite my "New Year's resolution" now, and then repost my book reviews.

My main blog thread will be "Death by TBR." This year I am attempting to conquer the TBR. To do that, I have typed up 90% of my TBR piles from my shelves and placed them in a crystal ball. I will shake it up and pick one at random. If you want to see this in action look at my TikTok profile @Tattooedbibliophile.

Another way I plan to conquer the TBR pile is to try not to buy more books. Now don't get me wrong, I will be buying books. I am going to a book convention as an Author, I would never make that goal if I didn't give myself rules. I am only allowed to buy three books this year that are new to me books. It's either the 1st in a series or completely new to me. Other than that, it must be either an exclusive edition, bought & signed at a convention, or a series continuous of a series I already own.

Shouldn't it be hard right? I have rules and three freebies. I am going to try! Don't Laugh all you book lovers.
